So we planned one last grand vacation to Utah before the semester started and the snow set in. We went to Logan first to use our movie passes that we forgot we had and saw Harry Potter. Since I have the books memorized, I always pick out the things that are wrong or missing, but I really liked the movie. I am trying to get Bob to read the books so I don't have to explain all the things they left out. We are reading them together and just started The Prisoner of Azkaban, which I think is my favorite. So after the movie we headed up to Bear Lake for the weekend with my family. We went from one side of Idaho to the other that day. We had a great time with my family at my sister-in-laws cabin. Lots of boating, jet skiing, and food. Not so much swimming because the water is so high there is no beach and the ground was really yucky. Here are some pictures, mostly of the cute nieces and nephews that we get to play with and then send them away when they are grumpy, hungry, tired, or stinky.
On Sunday we had dinner with Josh, Calley, and Robert. It was great! I wished we could have seen more Logan people, but we were on a schedule. We spent the next two days with my parents until I got a call for a job interview. We decided not to pass up the chance, so after a quick stop in Draper we headed back up to Boise. After the interview, which I didn't get, we headed up to Island Park to meet Bob's family, covering more than the width of Idaho because the road was shaped like a U and we had to come almost back to Utah before north. I got another call for another interview, but decided to pass so that we could finish the vacation. We had tons of fun in Island Park. I had never been there so Bob and Uncle Brad showed me all the sights. Bob spent any free time out on the river, which is ok because he won't get another chance to fish until next summer. We saw waterfalls and Big Springs, rafted the river, and spent time hanging out, but all the wildlife kept well hidden. The nieces were thrilled to have a new person to entertain them, and I think I did it well. We stopped at Bear World on the way back to see some wildlife, pet some goats, and ride on the kiddie rides.
It was a great week, even if more than 24 hours were spent sitting in the car. We love our families and hope to move closer when Bob graduates.
Ugh- so long in a car- you guys are troopers! I heard that you are now the favorite aunt of all my nieces, and I can see why- you are so fun! I know my mom really appreciated all your help at the cabin and I hope you got some sleep. :) Tell Robert that I wish him the best of luck with school starting, and can't wait until Christmas time when we will get to see you again!
